Fuel prices: This AfD fake costs you money!

Many people are currently bypassing the artificially inflated fuel prices by the oil companies in Germany by refueling abroad. Apparently, the AfD and their fake influencers have a problem with that. And they lie about it being supposedly “forbidden” and that the “customs” will check you otherwise. Refueling abroad is, of course, completely legitimate and also permitted. You are allowed to bring petrol in your tank and 20 liters extra in the reserve tank across EU borders. You also do not need to “prove” where the fuel in your tank comes from. Why they don’t want you to save money when refueling:

AfD & Co. stir up fear

After the Iran war – initiated by AfD friend Trump – the price of oil is rising. The Dutch automobile club offers an overview of prices in Europe. It shows that fuel prices in Germany are rising well above average. The world market price currently explains only a little more than a third of the increase in Germany.

The Spiegel quotes an oil market expert who notes that most tankers from the Strait of Hormuz would only arrive here in a few weeks. So, there can be no talk of an acute shortage. In other words: here, the oil companies are profiting. That’s why most parties are calling for tougher action against the fuel price cartel. The AfD, by the way, rejected stricter controls for more competition and against cartels – in 2023, they voted against tightening.

By the way: The Union now wants the Federal Cartel Office to use the new possibilities for sector investigations introduced by Robert Habeck – and which the Union wanted to abolish again according to their election program. But that’s just by the way.

The AfD wants to think for you

The AfD tries to divert attention from the situation and the anger of their supporters back to their old enemies – even if they once again harm their own voters with it! Instead of simply explaining the situation factually, AfD & Co. are now populistically exploiting completely normal border controls – which they themselves demanded! – to stir up populism.

Border controls can be more than one thing

You are allowed to bring petrol in your tank and 20 liters extra in the reserve tank across EU borders. But there are also people who, in the current situation, want to bring significantly more than just 20 liters extra across the border – not for personal use, but for profit. These smugglers are checked by customs. And, by the way, since the traffic light coalition, migration at the border.

That customs checks you can generally expect more often at German external borders since the traffic light coalition and again tightened controls have had them reinforced there – as the AfD also demanded. Even before, there were already covert checks. In fact, there are currently no “increased targeted controls” according to the Federal Police Inspection! A higher detection of violations regarding the import and illegal transport of fuels cannot currently be confirmed, it says.

AfD complains about the politics it demands!

That is the absurdity of the lying-based, far-right politics: it complains about the problems it itself has caused. It is the AfD that has been demanding border controls for years. And when they got them after the rightward shift of the major parties – and that has been almost three years now! – they not only ignore it completely. The consequences of the border controls that the AfD demanded are, after all, that smuggling of fuel bought abroad is sometimes uncovered. That’s exactly what the AfD supposedly wants all the time!

But instead of being honest, they instrumentalize again and brazenly mislead their own supporters. They lie to them that refueling abroad is forbidden – although it is not – and take a fact that could show that border controls as desired by the AfD work as proof that it isn’t so. The AfD does not want border controls. The AfD does not want solutions. They do not want you to get better.

“The worse Germany is doing, the better for the AfD,” said the AfD politician Christian Lüth. The AfD wants you to be worse off. That you do not know that you are allowed to refuel cheaper abroad. So that you think there are no border controls.

Only so you stay angry and vote for the AfD. The AfD does not want you to save money when refueling. It wants you to be lied to and to give it your vote obediently. Better think for yourself. And remember that, unlike fuel, electricity prices have fallen – and are likely to continue falling even after the Iran war. Because: Our electricity generation has more wind and solar share than ever (62%) – and the trend is upward. Against this trend and the AfD also stirs up. Think about it.
